Premier League’s record goalscorer praises Brentford stars as he names his Team of the Week

Brentford beat Newcastle United 4-2 to continue their incredible home form this season, with Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa both on the scoresheet.

The attacking duo were too hot to handle for the Magpies, and have played key roles in helping Brentford boast the best home record in the Premier League this season, taking 22 points from a possible 24 at the Gtech Stadium.

Alan Shearer, the Premier League’s record goalscorer and Hall of Fame inductee, names Mbeumo and Wissa in his Team of the Week alongside Bees team-mate Mark Flekken, in a line-up featuring players from EIGHT different clubs.

Mark Flekken (Brentford)
Somehow denied Alexander Isak at 1-1 when the striker seemed to have an open goal, and he then supplied the second assist of his Premier League career to put Brentford 3-2 ahead.

Daniel Munoz (Crystal Palace)
Scored his second goal in three matches and put in a solid shift defensively against Manchester City.

Nikola Milenkovic (Nottingham Forest)
Scored with a towering header and consistently put his body on the line at the other end of the pitch.

Antonee Robinson (Fulham)
The Fulham left-back kept Bukayo Saka quiet, which is crucial to stopping Arsenal.

Jarrod Bowen (West Ham)
Delivered when his team really needed him, providing a goal and an assist in a crucial win over Wolves.

Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
Showed unbelievable composure to score both of his penalties and make history in the process.

Manager: Enzo Maresca (Chelsea)
His half-time tactical change, bringing on Malo Gusto in place of Romeo Lavia, swung the game in Chelsea’s favour.
